MomMirror Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 13, 2025
Version: 1.0
Introduction
Welcome to MomMirror. We are committed to your privacy and to providing a transparent understanding of how your information is handled. This policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, and how you remain in control when using our mobile application (“MomMirror app” or “app”).
MomMirror is an AI-powered mental health app designed to provide perinatal women with a private, device-based space for emotional reflection and support. All your personal data is stored locally on your device; we do not store or process your data in the cloud or on our servers. Our services include:
- AI-Powered Chatbot: A conversational AI for empathetic support.
- Daily Check-Ins: Guided reflections to help you process your emotions.
Important Disclaimer: MomMirror is an emotional support tool, not a medical device. It is not a substitute for professional therapy, diagnosis, or medical advice and is not intended for use in crisis situations. If you are experiencing a medical emergency or a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or a local emergency service immediately.
By using the MomMirror app, you agree to the handling of your information as described in this policy.
1. About MomMirror and Our Contact Details
MomMirror is developed by a private app studio based in Switzerland.
If you have any questions, comments, or requests regarding this policy or your data, you can email our privacy team at: privacy@mommirrorapp.com
2. What Information We Collect
We believe in data minimization and user privacy. All personal data is stored locally on your device, and you are in complete control. We do not collect or store any of your personal information on our servers.
Information You Provide Directly (Stored Only on Your Device):
- Profile Information: Nickname, age range, and perinatal stage (e.g., pregnant, postpartum). No real name or contact info is required.
- Conversation Data: The content of your conversations with the AI Chatbot and your responses during Daily Check-Ins.
- Wellbeing Stats: Mood, sleep, energy, baby-related metrics, and any notes you add.
- User-Generated Content: Personal notes, memories, or reflections you create within the app.
Information Collected Automatically:
- Device Data: We do not collect analytics or tracking data. The app uses a unique, anonymous identifier for your device and its operating system solely to ensure the app functions correctly and to securely store your API key. This data is not used to track you.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used exclusively to power the MomMirror service, directly from your device.
- To Power the App's Features: Your profile, conversations, and wellbeing stats are used locally on your device to provide a personalized experience, including AI-powered chat and visualizations in the Flower Garden and My Journey features. These visualizations do not involve any additional data collection.
- To Provide AI-Powered Responses: When you use the AI Chatbot, the app sends only the minimum necessary context (such as recent messages, relevant profile fields, and stats) to a third-party AI service provider for the sole purpose of generating a response. This data is never stored or used to train AI models by the provider.
- Support: If you contact us for support, we will use your contact information only to respond to your inquiry.
Our Commitment to Your Privacy:
- We DO NOT store your conversations, profile, or stats on our servers. All your data remains on your device.
- We DO NOT use your conversations to train AI models.
- We DO NOT sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.
- We DO NOT use analytics or tracking services.
4. How We Protect Your Information
We take the security of your information seriously. Since your data lives on your device, you are the primary custodian. We have implemented the following safeguards:
- Local Data Storage: All your personal information (profile, chats, stats, memories) is stored only on your device using local storage (SharedPreferences). It is never uploaded to a server or cloud database.
- On-Device Security: Your data is protected by your device’s built-in security features (such as device lock and encryption, if enabled).
- Secure API Key Storage: The API key used for AI communication is stored in encrypted storage (flutter_secure_storage) on your device. Note: Your chat, stats, and profile data are not encrypted by default on the device.
- Encryption in Transit: When contextual data is sent to our AI service provider, it is protected with industry-standard TLS encryption in transit.
- No Human Review: We have a strict policy against human review of your private conversations.
5. Who We Share Information With
We do not share your personal information except in the following limited circumstances:
- AI Service Provider: As described above, we share only the minimum necessary context with our AI service provider for the sole purpose of generating AI responses. The provider is contractually obligated not to store or use this data for any other purpose.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in good faith to comply with legal obligations, protect our rights, or ensure user safety.
6. App Analytics and Crash Reporting
To ensure the stability and quality of the MomMirror app, we use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, services provided by Google. These tools collect certain technical and diagnostic information about your device and app usage. This information helps us understand how the app is performing, diagnose crashes, and improve the overall user experience.
- What is Collected: Crash reports, error logs, anonymized usage events (such as screen views and button taps), device type, operating system version, and general technical data. No chat content, profile, or sensitive wellbeing data is intentionally sent to these services.
- How It Is Used: This data is used solely for the purposes of monitoring app stability, fixing bugs, and improving the app. We do not use this information to track you across apps or build a marketing profile.
- Third-Party Processing: Analytics and crash data are processed by Google in accordance with their privacy policies. We do not sell or share this data with advertisers.
You can opt out of analytics and crash reporting in the app settings at any time. If you have questions about data collection, contact us at privacy@mommirrorapp.com.
6. Your Data Protection Rights
You are in full control of your data. Because all your information is stored on your device, you can exercise your rights directly:
- Access and Rectify Your Data: You can view and edit your profile and other data at any time within the app.
- Erase Your Data: You can permanently delete all your app data at any time. The most definitive way to do this is to uninstall the MomMirror app, which will erase all your conversations, profiles, and stats (no copy exists elsewhere). The app may also provide an in-app option to clear all data.
- Data Portability: You may use the app’s export feature (if available) to generate a file of your conversations or data.
- Object to or Restrict Processing: You control the information you provide within the app. To stop all processing, simply uninstall the app.
For questions or support, contact us at privacy@mommirrorapp.com.
7. Data Retention
We do not store your data on our servers. Your data remains on your device as long as you keep the MomMirror app installed. If you delete the app, all your data is deleted with it.
8. Children’s Privacy
The MomMirror app is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not perform age verification but do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can address the situation.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make any significant changes, we will notify you within the app. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes signifies your acceptance of the updated policy.
